A Collection of Panoramic Photos
As human beings, we have the blessing and the curse that we’re able to adapt to almost anything. No matter how extreme the circumstances you’re in, they become normal.” – Kevin Powers
Since starting this blog, I’ve been inspired to do some digging through old photos. While doing so, I came across a set of panoramas I took back in January 2014. It was a Monday morning, and Nick and I set out to experience some of the coldest temperatures on record in Chicago. We’re talking -7°F with 26 mph wind gusts, creating wind chills of -35°F. The views from North Avenue Beach were particularly incredible that day. The sun, piercing. The sky, so blue. The lake, alive with steam. It was practically surreal.
Below are a few more shots taken around the same time in early 2014. These were captured at Millennium Park, the Hancock Observatory, and from our balcony just north of Pilsen, which overlooks the BNSF rail yard. I’m so happy I stumbled upon these photos because it reminded me how powerful panoramas are, and how fun they are to make. All of these images were created using one of my favorite photo apps, AutoStitch. It was arguably the best $1.99 I’ve ever spent on an app.
